The Wilshire & Co team is comprised of over 40 staff members, all are highly motivated and provide exceptional service to our diverse client base delivering industry leading knowledge across livestock health, horticulture, water technology, broadacre production systems, fencing, fertilisers and rural merchandise.
We are offering a unique full time opportunity for an experienced Agronomist to join our team based in Stanthorpe, Queensland. Reporting to the General Manager and Branch Manager the focus of your role will be to provide expert agronomic and horticultural advice, drive sales and customer service outcomes across the Stanthorpe region.
This pivotal role will include providing agronomic recommendations and technical horticultural support to farmers and producers in the region together with product sales in store and on farm. Building on Wilshire & Co’s established and long term client relationships, you will develop a strong understanding of the clients requirements, you will develop a strong understanding of their business goals and share technical and market information to enable growers to improve the performance of their farming operations.
Maintaining relationships with existing customers whilst targeting new clients through the provision of expert sales and agronomic input and consulting on the latest plant production practices in line with company sales and strategic objectives will also be required. From time to time you will be required to collaborate with other team members coordinating field days and grower information sessions, positioning yourself as the go to subject matter expert in the region for horticulture agronomic inputs and other advice.
To be successful you will have established yourself as a trusted Agronomist in both a hands on and advisory role, demonstrating an understanding of the products, seasonal timings and general requirements of our region’s diverse and highly successful horticultural producers.
You will be able to provide the right advice and services to our extensive client network, navigating the complexities of your industry along with a demonstrated understanding of the latest agronomic products and technologies critical in developing a sustainable approach whilst managing environmental constraints that vary with each and every client.
Your sound customer service, organisational, administrative and computing skills will be complemented by excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will demonstrate an understanding of the sales process and strong sales activity and call cycle management.
A tertiary qualification in agricultural science or a related field and a current driver’s license is essential. Your experience in an agronomic advisory role related to agricultural chemicals and fertiliser will secure this rewarding role.
